Hi Diane,
Geez, where do I
start? Well, I suppose I should start by saying THANK YOU for Ernie! He is
such a good puppy. Denny and I just love him to death! He has brought so
much joy to our house!
We lost our 15-year-old
Yorkie, Duffy, and the house seemed way too empty. Denny and I searched up
and down for a suitable replacement. We wanted a smaller dog (under 20
pounds), definitely a cute one, a dog that would be good with people of all
ages, and a dog that would be easily trainable. Boy, we really lucked out!
Ernie is honestly the perfect dog for anyone! (And no, you can’t have him
back!) Ernie is now almost 13
months old and weighs 18 pounds…perfect. Not too small, but not too big
that I can’t pick him up, and I love to pick him up and get HUGS from him!
I think he enjoys it as much as I do. |

He is the love of the
neighborhood….really. Everyone knows and loves Ernie. Kids come over
asking to play with him or to just take him for a walk. Adults call me
wanting to take care of him while I am at work or out of town on business.
It’s amazing. He really is the neighborhood puppy – even gets along well
with the other dogs – a little intimated by the bulldogs down the street but
that’s because of their size, not their personalities!
Now to brag about his
intelligence…Ernie is one smart puppy. Of course he knows the basics…sit,
shake hands, lie down and stay. The other day I taught him to roll over.
One day, that’s all it took him to learn! Honestly, one day. I was
amazed. (The downside to this is that he now sits, shakes hands, lays down
and rolls over all in one quick movement. All in good time, all in good
time.) As you can see from the pictures, he has several toys….not too
spoiled….His toys are all named, and he knows them all by name! I can tell
him to “go get Greenie” or “where’s Lizzy?” or whatever, and he will find it
and bring it to me! Ernie can even distinguish between different sizes and
textures of balls…Blue ball, BIG blue ball, purple ball, red ball, Michigan
ball, fuzzy ball, etc. Absolutely amazing. |

Potty training? Easy.
His leash is hanging up on the front doorknob. When he needs out he grabs
his leash off the doorknob and brings it to me. If by chance Denny and I
are sitting out in the lanai, he goes to the screen door and sits down,
hint, hint. I honestly can’t remember the last time he had an accident in
the house.
This puppy is so smart
he knows my routine in the morning. As I get ready to leave for work (and
without saying a word) he goes and lies down on his pillow. I give him a
couple of treats and tell him to be a “good boy.” I usually come home for
lunch and guess what? He was a good boy! No chewing up lamp cords, no
chewing up furniture. Just a good puppy! I give him the run of the house
except for the bedrooms. So far, so good! A few times I was unable to get
away from the office and poor Ernie had to hold it all day long…and he did!
(My fault – I should have called the neighbors, but he held it in
nonetheless.) |

Okay, now for the
dreaded downside. He’s a puppy. That’s all I can say. He is still curious
about everything new, barks at the neighbors across the street whenever a
car door slams, etc. And he is really into paper….papers on the coffee
table, papers in the wastebasket, etc. I was sick with a cold one day not
too long ago. I had a box of Kleenex on the night stand…..I woke up around
2AM in a sneezing fit, reached for the Kleenex but couldn’t find it.
Instead I found shredded Kleenex (box and all) in the bed and on the floor!
I wanted to kill him, but he was just too cute…;-) So I took a few pictures
instead To sum it
all up, THANK YOU!!! Our little Cockapoo is the best buddy we could ever
have! He is all that we wanted, and more! Ernie is the epitome of
cuteness, friendliness and intelligence. He really is. I would recommend
this breed to anyone.
I could go on and on
bragging about him….I think you probably have had an earful by now. Again,
thank you. I definitely will (and have) recommend you to our family,
friends and neighbors….
Hugs from Ernie!
Best Regards,
Patty and Denny Hall |
