Hi Diane !!
As I have said many times before , you guys are the best! We are so glad to
have found Supreme Aire Labradors , and in turn , end up with such a great
dog ( we are not biased or anything , ha ha) ! Beau is such a genuine dog .
He is intelligent , curious , and quite a character! It seems like yesterday
( I can't believe it was 2 years ago !) that we met with you and Dave and
stood there , trying to figure out which puppy was the one that was going to
come home with us !! It is also very hard to believe that Beau was once a
mere 7 lbs! Since then it has been a complete adventure!
When we got Beau , as you know , Mike and I were living in Puerto Rico ,
where he was stationed w/ the USCG at the time . Prior to bringing Beau home
, we had another little Labrador , " Bailey," who passed away at a very
young age . It took time to be sure that we were ready to bring home
another puppy . When we did , I knew this time , I really wanted to do my
"homework." Your reputation speaks for itself !
When we brought Beau home at the age of 8 weeks , of course , it was not
your normal ride home . We had to fly back to Puerto Rico . He was able to
be in the cabin with us . As soon as we got home , we introduced him to Blue
, our now 5 year old Lab mix . I think she was happy to have another little
buddy . Immediately , they hit it off. We took him out of his carrier, she
licked him( it was like she was giving her approval ) ... he followed her
into our backyard and since then they have been inseperable . We buy 2 dog
toys ,they both want the same one . We buy 2 dog beds , they both want to
sleep together on the same one!! We can't WIN!
I can't tell you how many compliments we receive , when people see Beau . He
is definitely one handsome dog! Of course , with Mike being in the Coast
Guard , we move every few years . Beau is EXTREMELY adaptable to new places
and new living situations . As far as training , it was a breeze! Beau
was completely housebroken by the time he was 12 weeks old . Of course we
crate trained . I would not do it any other way ! We have had such great
results with it .
He knows his commands very well. He knows "sit," "shake," "speak" and
"down." He will also "give you his belly," if you ask him to. He loves
belly rubs! We never really had a problem with him being an aggressive
chewer as a puppy. As long as we kept dog toys laying around he was easily
entertained , although one day I came downstairs , and found Beau and Blue
unrolling toilet paper from the roll in the bathroom . True partners in
crime! Toys coupled with plenty of exercise , as a puppy , seemed to work
wonders .
He LOVES the water ! When we were staying with family, during our move last
summer, he was
able to swim every day , in their pool , in fact, it was VERY difficult to
keep him out of the pool!
Beau likes to retrieve things (sticks , tennis balls). He likes "frisbee,"
as well . We have to spell out many words around Beau ( walk , swim , bath
are just a few ) . He is SOOOO intelligent .
Those are just some of the many things that make Beau, so special . I cannot
tell you how happy we are that we have him ( although judging by how much he
is spoiled I am sure you know) ! At 2 years old and 65 lbs later, he is the
BEST dog ever!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH, for everything! You guys are great.
